Last year Keith and I met Julie Walker. She and Keith hosted a hike at Keith’s ranch on the topic of edible plans. Julie is well-grounded in the technical aspects of edible and medicinal plants. Keith added the history and uses from an Indigenous perspective.
The event will involve:
Introductions, smudge, and prayer in the tipi
A hike with Julie and Keith to introduce us to dozens of edible and medicinal plants
Foraging for edible, wild plants and non-native species
A chance to build your relationship with the plant kingdom using all of your senses and hearing cultural stories that help connect you with the plant
Preparing and cooking the plants we have picked with the meat, ingredients, and spices brought by participants
Cooking various recipes using the pot, pans and utensils brought by participants
Then we will have a FEAST.
